A parent with children outside a family home
Our story

Life insurance can steady a family’s finances. So can a clear home policy.

BFDLife exists because too many people meet their insurer for the first time on the day of a claim. We would rather meet you while the roof is dry and the trip is still a plan. Since 1992 we have written cover for households, landlords, and small firms, and we have kept the advice with a named person.

We are not a bank and we do not pretend a policy is an investment. We transfer specified risks, we say what is excluded, and we price the transfer before you accept it. If another arrangement you already hold does the job, we will tell you to keep it.

Why readers stay

What makes BFDLife a careful place to arrange cover

Three habits show up in every file: we ask what you could not replace, we write the recommendation in sentences a relative could reread, and we keep the claims explanation in the same voice.

How we grew

The dates below are the moments that changed how we work, not a list of slogans. Each one is still visible in the way a quotation is written today.

1992

The practice opens

A small advice room begins offering household and life quotations with the exclusions printed on the first page, not the last.

2003

Claims stay with the adviser

We stop handing claims to an unnamed queue. The person who sold the policy remains reachable while the file is open.

2007

Plain-language commendation

External reviewers note that our decline letters quote the clause and then restate it in everyday words.

2014

Family mapping

Elena Ward’s fact-find replaces a product checklist. Households start with who depends on whom.

2018

Landlord and workshop desks

Property insurance for rented homes and business insurance for small premises become dedicated conversations.

2024

Written-first service

Every public form on this site confirms in the browser, and every follow-up is promised by email so you hold a record.

Our promise is to make complex insurance language readable, to answer claim questions in writing, and to show the price of cover before you commit.

Every illustration separates the insurance contribution from taxes or fees that must be added. If a number on our pricing page is only an example, we say so.
You will know what we still need from you, why a decision is waiting, and where to write if you disagree. The claims desk is claims@bfdwinery.com.
Advisors are asked to list what they recommended and what they deliberately left out. That note belongs to you.

A note from our desk

BFDLife began as a promise to explain cover before anyone was asked to buy it. If you are comparing policies today, write down the people who rely on you, the loan you could not clear alone, and the excess you could pay next month without borrowing. Bring that page to hello@bfdwinery.com. We will answer with options, including the option to buy less.
